Hello all FHAC members and friends! Can you help out? No experience necessary! The next three Fountain Hills Library Public Star Parties have been scheduled for Tuesday evenings on October 20, November 17 and December 15. These are nights when the first quarter Moon will be up, giving visitors an opportunity to see those beautiful lunar craters nicely illuminated by the “rising” sun (rising on the Moon, that is!)
We’d like to have as many telescopes there as possible. The Library has several telescopes which will be set up and for which we need operators. If you can bring your own telescope, that’s great too. We typically have 100 or more visitors for these events, which run from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on the Centennial Courtyard in front of the Library.
Please email Ted (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you can help, and let us know the equipment you might bring or if you are willing to operate one of the scopes. Those who did it last year found it to be a lot of fun, and we’ll set up the telescope for you so it tracks the object you are looking at (or give you instructions on how to follow it through the sky). Student operators are welcome too!
Please try to arrive by 5:00pm to help set up and to see how to operate your scope. If you bring equipment you can park in the dirt lot that is easily accessed from the library entrance on El Lago Blvd which will bring you right up to the courtyard.
